Episode 43: Eeny-Meeny-Miney-Mo. Figure out your genre, Ho!

Okay, okay. Yes, we know we’re being a little sassy with our title, but figuring out which genre your story is going to fit into is important. Listen to this week’s episode and we’ll tell you why!

So last week we discussed the most commonly accepted genres and talked a little bit about each of them. Now that you have an idea of what those are, it’s time to try one on for size for your story. We examine whether or not you need to know everything about a certain category and how that could affect your writing. We also debate how a new writer can determine what genre is right for their work. We even go into what to do if your chosen genre isn’t really working well for your story and what to do about it. We also hit on those aspiring writers that just want to push the envelope and become (gasp) multi-genre!

Don’t fret, friends, we’ll still have our regular segments: Old Time Accountability Hour, Ask the Muse, Method to the Madness, and Feed The Fire. And before you ask, no, you probably shouldn’t take us home to meet your mother.
